“Though only 30% to 40% of all U.S. fleets are currently using a telematics system to track and maintain their fleets, a study shows 66% of fleets had recouped their investments in telematics. Current advancements in the field of IoT for vehicles (IoV) and telematics are mind-blowing. It is predicted that by 2022, the global vehicle telematics market will be valued at $103 billion.” [Source: Forbes]

Business owners, fleet managers and even governmental decision makers need to embrace new trends in telematics in order to remain competitive, keep track of their vehicles to improve efficiency, driver performance and offer real-time updates to customers. The post pandemic era has shown the growth in delivery services across all sectors, and increased demands from customers. Last mile management therefore should be at the vanguard of operations managers and planners. The value of fleet management systems to business operations is central to success going forward. Certainly in the Caribbean with increasing fuel cost, limited access to low cost EV vehicles and other challenges. In addition, the success of any business that uses vehicles in its core operations demands continuously capturing meaningful data from vehicles and drivers to improve business performance.
